Default Signet of Illusions Mesmer Builds

Here are results of my experiments with Signet of Illusions. Since some of my original builds were deleted from wiki, I’ll post them here in detail. My goal was to choose different secondaries and see how SoI can be utilized. These builds may be not very good, but they represent some of the possibilities with SoI. Hopefully we'll find something that is useful with SoI.

Me/E Lord of the Elements. This is mostly a support build with some offensive skills.

Fast Casting: 12 + 1
Illusion: 12 + 1 + 3

Variant 1

Signet of Illusions (Elite)
Glyph of Lesser Energy
Ward Against Melee (21 sec duration)
Blurred Vision* (21 sec duration)
Conjure Phantasm
Images of Remorse
Aura of Restoration (417% of energy cost heal)
Resurrection Signet

* Can be replaced with Ward Against Elements
* Replace one of the spells with Meteor Shower
* Replace one of the spells with Obsidian Flame

Unlike a glyph, SoI will stay activated permanently. You can activate it, run to the next mob, drop meteor shower, put ward(s) up, and spread degen.

Variant 2 (AB)

Signet of Illusions (Elite)
Glyph of Lesser Energy
Conjure Phantasm
Phantom Pain
Spiritual Pain (106 + 79 nearby)
Lightning Orb (106)
Aura of Restoration
Distortion

Me/Mo Illusory Healer. This build is fun I wanted to see how can I maximize healing potential of my mesmer. This build can be helpful on all mesmer teams.

Fast Casting: 8 + 1
Illusion: 12 + 1 + 3
Inspiration: 8 + 1
Healing Prayers: 7
Protection Prayers: 1

Signet of Illusions (Elite)
Divine Boon
Gift of Health (222 heal with SoI and 141 without)
Reversal of Fortune (82 heal)
Heal Party (87 heal with SoI)*
Power Drain
Energy Tap
Resurrection Chant

* Replace with Conjure Phantasm for some damage
** Replace Divine Boon, GoH, and RoF with Blessed Aura, Aegis and Prot Spirit

Me/N Vampiric Illusions. This is an AB build. Recharge and activation of SoI is decreased by MoI and SC.

Fast Casting: 11 + 1
Illusion: 12 + 1 + 3
Inspiration: 6 + 1

Variant 1. AB

Signet of Illusions (Elite)
Mantra of Inscriptions (37% faster recharge)
Symbolic Celerity (45% faster signet activation)
Conjure Phantasm
Phantom Pain
Shadow Strike (50 shadow + 50 steal)
Vampiric Gaze (63 steal)
Consume Corpse (105 heal + 11 net energy)

Variant 2. PvE Degen

Signet of Illusions (Elite)
Well of Suffering
Conjure Phantasm
Images of Remorse
Rotting Flesh
Consume Corpse
Energy Tap
Resurrection Signet

Me/Rt Ancestors' Illusions. Since SoI works only on spells, spirits can't be buffed with it. However, you can create L11 Pain with Ashes that can be helpful in PvE.

Fast Casting: 12 + 1
Illusion: 12 + 1 + 3

Signet of Illusions (Elite)
Anguished Was Lingwah (Spirit deals 32 armor ignoring damage)
Generous Was Tsungrai (+146 max health and 292 heal)
Conjure Phantasm
Images of Remorse
Spirit Rift (142 nearby dmg)
Energy Tap
Flesh of My Flesh

Post your suggestions and builds

Unfortunately Signet of Illusions affects your next spell.
Binding rituals are not spells.

Typo on the necro page -- you say it's monk.

And for the elementalist one, note that you have various personal armor spells available if you want. However, Kinetic Armor probably wouldn't work (not enough different spell casts), and the energy cost on the others might be too high.

Also, note that Aura of Restoration is quite competitive with Ether Feast as a limited self-heal. (Better against degen than spikes.)

Anyhow, the problem on all of these is energy. You put up a bunch of great spells, but where's the energy to cast them all?

To your credit, you did pick ones with slow recharges ...

Aye, seems Illusion might actually be worth using after all.

I just capped SoI this morning. I have to say it works well on pure Mesmer builds as well as class-crossing ones. You can have your points in Illusion, FC and Inspiration while having a few Domination skills on your bar such as Backfire, Empathy, Shame, Spiritual Pain, ect.

I've yet to find a way to Echo MS with a SoI mesmer...still working on the casting order (is it even possible?)

If I'm understanding you correctly, the first MS would be a total waste of energy assuming you don't have a high Fire Magic rated.

It would still give 3 KD's. But double exhaustion is too much for a mes.

I made a few sig of illusion Me/Rt builds before.

I found one buried in the forums.

It uses fragility and Painful bond for extra damage. You use SOI on anguished to get a beefy spirit, but because shadowsong is a ritual you cast that at lvl 0. shadowsong at lvl 0 procs fragility with every hit of it's ball mcdoo attack. I made a video. It's in that build.

We've been using this in gvg:

me/mo

Balthazar's Aura
Smite Hex
Arcane Lacerny
Inspired Enchantment
Aegis
Blessed Aura
Signet of Illusions
ress

Combo it with a ferverborn staff for a leet 17 seconds aegis. It helps against melee pressure a lot. Balthazar Aura last what it used to last, and can be devastating. Inspired Enchantment to steal another aegis and combo aegis with yourself lol. And lacerny to steal anything usefull or dangerous, or anything you can toy with if you can spare energy. The long recharges will be fine with the -1 energy pip.

Ummm, usually, when you put near max points in an att line, u tend to use skills from that line (in this case high illusion) all these builds are based off your elite... there completely horrible, and use your high illusion attribute for nill? Why not u know, make builds with illusion magic and add in a "very few" other skills to COMPLIMENT the build, not make it its job... Dont use these builds, there useless crap. It would be better jus to go the primary you want to use the most spells from. Also, ur wasting ur elite... OMG jus so many things wrong with sig of illusion...

I beg your pardon, but how crappy is a build that can use maxed 6 different attributes at once? There are many NF elites that would really be a waste, but the possibilities signet gives for builds certainly doesn't make it one to be discarded. The topic creator didn't post builds that made sense for me, but that doesn't mean this elite sux completelly.

Extremely, in most cases. The problem is such spread attributes lack synergy for the most part. Synergizing skills are often in the same stat line - hence using a real elite and stats in normal locations tends to give a stronger build.

Some people only want to make 1 character and play any type of role they want. Signet of Illusions can give them that chance. More power to them. Who cares if they are not the leetest. It's a game and games are about fun for quite a few folks. Signet of Illusions can be fun to play with.

I fixed the typo and made two slots optional with a list of possible skills.

This is interesting - I'll try it.

This may be the case, but SoI opens the possibility to synergize skills across many lines at rank 16. We just have to find useful combinations.
